Oliver! Theatre Tickets – Will You Be At The December Previews?

September 30th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Lionel Bart’s West End revival of Oliver! – Directed by by Rupret Goold previews this December. The show actually runs from 14th Jan 2009 at West End’s Royal Drury Lane Theatre.

Rupret Goold is an acclaimed director, and Rupert won the coveted Sydney Edwards Award for Best Director for his 2007 direction of Macbeth.

Amongst the cast for this show is Rowan Atkinson (starring as Fagin). In an unusual ‘twsit’ (Pun Intended!) the actors playing Oliver and Nancy will be decided by reality tv’s ‘I’d Do Anything’. – If that’s not a sign of the times, I don’t know what is!

Oliver! Has always have a place in the heart of England’s theatre goers, with the 1994 production playing over one thousand three hundred performances!. This run also broke the record at the time for the longest run of any show at the London Palladium.

The story of Oliver is seemingly timeless. There is, perhaps, something about the tale of a young boy, dragged into the criminal underworld of Dickensian London and struggling to make sense his life that will never fail to touch our hearts.

The stage version of Oliver Twist, by Lionel Bart, was first performed in London in 1960, and its success was instantaneous.

Oliver theatre tickets always seem to sell out quickly, and this show is expected to be no exception.

If you live outside London, or even if you simply feel like a weekend of luxury, then you may want to consider one of the Oliver theatre breaks that are available from www.westendtheatrebreaks.com

All that remains is to see whether the audiences that see Decembers previews are crying out “Please Rupret, Can I have some more…”!

Is a night at the theatre a good antidote to Credit Crunch Stress?

September 27th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

dirty dancing theatre tickets

The credit crunch may be affecting many business and some parts of the entertainment industry, but with in excess of 13 million people attending the theatre in 2007, it is pretty safe to say that the potential collapse of the West End as a form of entertainment is perhaps being slightly too pessimistic.

As an antidote to increasing numbers of stress related issues in society and various corresponding social issues. It would appear that a night in the West End could be the perfect tonic and a weekend theatre break even more so.

Throughout this all there is one inescapable fact and that is that people are ever more increasingly looking for tickets and for those tickets to be bought at bargain prices. As a result there has been corresponding growth in the availability of online Booking Agencies.

Websites such as www.uktickets.co.uk are specialist sources in the provision of tickets at the best prices for best shows.
One example of such a show is Dirty Dancing, which has never lost its appeal with theatre goers, even though it’s two decades since it first appeared on the big screens in the cinema.

The range of spin offs from the film “Dirty Dancing” was such that at one point it was hard to ignore the film and the rest they say is history.

The theatre show has been even more successful than the movie though, with one particular show in 2004 selling well over two hundred thousand tickets in only 6 months.

On the show’s opening night in the West End in Oct 2006, Dirty Dancing theatre tickets clocked up the highest ticket pre sales in West End Theatre history. In fact, some of the weekend performances were selling out up to 6 months in advance.

Student Broadband Offers… Get a good deal

September 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

The beginning of term is always a busy time. If you are moving into a new house you will already have unpacking, registration, and getting to grips with paying bills to contend with. On top that you have to make time to catch up with old friends, or make sure you meet new ones. Searching around for the broadband package that most suits your needs may seem like a low priority, but you will find there are significant rewards to be gained through very little effort, so read on and find out why it’s actually really easy.

The search for the best broadband package can be a confusing one. Providers are aware of this and will most likely try and push their most expensive package your way, but this package may not suit the needs of a student. Taking a few minutes to ensure you’re getting the deal that is right for you can save you money, as well as granting you peace of mind.

To simplify the process, we have created a step-by-step guide to getting the best student broadband deal:

Step One – Isolate the aspect of the broadband deal that is most essential to you

1. The Contract: Broadband contracts are likely to be 12 months or more, which is great if you’re going to be in your residence for this long, but perhaps not ideal for the nomadic lifestyle of a student. If you are likely to move around a lot, for example visiting friends on the weekends or spending long holidays at home, a non contractual option may be best for you.

2. Heavy Downloading: Many companies offer unlimited downloads, however it is worth noting this is just an industry term. Fair usage policies will apply, and the cost of breaking them can be considerable. Make sure you check your providers’ policy, and download the free
www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/broadband-download-monitor.html to monitor your downloads and keep you inside your limits.

3. TV, Broadband and Phone: If you want digital TV and/or a landline phone in your house, then getting a package that bundles them together with your internet could be the best decision. Sky’s See, Speak and Surf includes all three services for £19 a month, with the option of adding more channels at an extra cost.

4. Speed: If fast download speeds are your bag, go for a provider that consistently delivers a high speed connection. According to the latest Broadband Choices speed tests, Karoo, O2 and Virgin Media all fared well in the speed department. To test how fast your internet is working, download the free broadband choices speed test tool. www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/speed-test.asp.

5. Do you want a wireless broadband option? – If so, look for a deal with a free wireless router!

Now you know what you need, you must find out which ISPs operate on your street. This is simple. Log on to www.broadbandchoices.co.uk (you may have to do this on a laptop from a WiFi hotspot) and enter your postcode into their search box. In a few seconds all the providers and packages available will be on your screen. Apply the criteria that you and your housemates have set out and you should be able to pick out the deal that is right for you. Signing up online can also get you a discount with some service providers, so if this is the case, take advantage and use the money you have saved for a congratulatory drink!

Step 2 – Consider Going Mobile

Getting yourself a “dongle” or mobile USB connection has both positives and negatives. The dongle provides highly portable broadband connectivity and eliminates the need for a landline, but mobile packages have tight restrictions in download limits and big penalties for those who exceed them. 3 Mobile’s broadband offers 1GB, 3GB or 7GB download capacities, but the financial hit for exceeding these limits is considerable. You will also find that taking a mobile broadband deal will invariably involve signing a long contract of 18 – 24 months, so if you are not happy or your needs change, you may find yourself stuck. One month mobile contracts are available however, and serve as a halfway house between long term fixed contracts and pay as you go options.

Step 3 – Be future proof with fibre optic

Fibre-optic is the new method used by Virgin Media to deliver their broadband internet. With Virgin Media, broadband connectivity is delivered through glass fibres the width of a human hair, as opposed to the traditional transportation method of broadband through copper wires. Virgin Media plan to roll out 50Mbps broadband connections by the end of the year, which will make them the fastest broadband provider in the UK. BT hope to counter this move by introducing 100Mbps connections in 2012.

Any Advice on which one to go for?

You want broadband with a contract…

• Plusnet (www.plus.net) – £9.99 per month for 8Mb, with a free wireless router and free connection for 12 months.

• Madasafish (www.madasafish.com) – £9.99 pm for 6 months and £14.99 after that for 8Mb, free connection and free wireless networking kit for 12 months.

• O2 (www.o2.co.uk) – £12.99 pm a month for 8Mb with unlimited downloads for 12 months.

No contract would be better…

• Be Broadband (www.bethere.co.uk) – £18 pm for 24Mb and unlimited usage. Connection is £24 and must provide notice 3 months in advance for cancellation.

• Plusnet (www.plus.net) – £14.99 pm gives you 8Mb and unlimited downloads in the evenings, but you will have to pay £40 for connection.

• Eclipse (www.eclipse.net) – £14.99 can get a one month contract with 8Mbs, there will be a £47 connection charge though.

I want to go mobile…

• If you open a student bank account with Natwest before October you can get £50 off 3’s mobile broadband. This will include a free dongle and a 50% discount on line rental if you are an existing customer. On top of this you can get a free Microsoft webcam and 5 year rail pass and even £100 off Asus laptops, making the banks student bank account very attractive.

Wireless Broadband Fear

September 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

A poll from BroadbandChoices.co.uk shows that ignorance amongst British broadband users means that many of us are unnecessarily terrified of going wireless – shying away from the advantages it offers many consumers.

BroadbandChoices.co.uk believes that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are causing much of this confusion. They should stop marketing ‘wireless broadband’, or WiFi, as if it is a unique service, separate from the fixed-line packages many users are more familiar with. Anyone with broadband can have a wireless connection – they just need the right router.

“It would appear that ISP’s are helping to create these misconceptions that stop customers from taking advantage of the benefits of wireless – especially during the summer months when they could be online while topping up their tan in the garden,” says Michael Phillips, product director of BroadbandChoices.co.uk.

“The industry really needs to make this clearer to their customers. Consumers should have more choice about how they use their broadband package,” continues Phillips.

Once installed, WiFi allows users to get rid of their unsightly wires and Ethernet cables. They can then connect multiple PCs, laptops, PDAs and consoles to a single broadband connection, and work or surf the Internet from any room in the house, on multiple PCs owned by various members of the family, or even from the garden.

96 per cent of poll respondents cited unfounded reasons for not having wireless broadband due to their misconceptions of WiFi. The top three reasons for not having wireless broadband were:

‘I am worried about dealing with the technicalities of wireless broadband’ – 44%
‘I am worried that my bank details may be at risk’ – 27%
‘My supplier does not offer a wireless broadband package’ – 25%

Exploding technical myths of WiFi
Not feeling confident about installing a wireless router in the home was the biggest reason for not going wireless.

Phillips advises: “Wireless routers are easy to set up. Also, if you get one direct from your Internet Service Provider, which most of us will, it will arrive preconfigured with all the right settings. Going wireless is not at all complex – it’s as easy as plugging your phone cable in when using a traditional fixed-line broadband service.

Bank details are safe
“Neither is there any more risk of bank details going astray with wireless than with a fixed service. People must assume that because it’s ‘wireless’ that data just floats off into the ether which simply isn’t the case. People shouldn’t be scared of WiFi – they just need to set up the right security, which is easy to do and most routers now have inbuilt encryption which is far harder to hack into than the older services,” continued Phillips.

Providers don’t offer wireless packages
Respondents also seem very confused about what wireless is, thinking that they had to take out a special wireless package when in reality the service from the ISP is the same whether fixed-line or WiFi. It’s up to the end user how they connect to a broadband service – whether via the fixed phone line, through a wireless router or card.

“This misconception could be down to ISPs giving the impression that they are offering a ‘wireless package’ when they are just providing a normal broadband connection with a wireless router as part of the deal. Anyone with broadband can have a wireless connection – they just need the right router, and you can either get this from your provider or from any computer hardware retailer,” concludes Phillips.

Fixed Price Energy –

September 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Energy bills are rising, sharply. The strained geopolitical horizon, volatile commodities market and dire predictions from the boffins suggest this is the start of a trend and not just a brief blip from the norm. It’s no surprise that customers are looking to reduce or limit their energy costs whilst still keeping the house warm.

Fixed price energy tariffs are one way for consumers to save and with prices soaring by up to 35% the time to act is now.

With a fixed price plan you can budget for the agreed term of the contract knowing that no price increases are lurking around the corner. Many of the contracts cover one or two year periods. In the current energy climate, stability and affordability are winning over many new customers.
When you compare energy prices and agreements the two main considerations should be; What period the agreement covers. Know when the agreement begins and ends, after completion you may find price increases the norm. Just as important, some providers of fixed price energy may drop the capped price of their energy if there is a reduction in worldwide prices, other providers see fixed price as just that. Check the details before you sign the agreement.

Being able to forecast your energy costs is increasingly attractive and becoming more pressing as the latest round of price rises bites into the global market. It is no longer just one supplier affected, both gas and electricity charges show marked increases in cost to the provider and the consumer.

So while the providers queue up to be the market leaders no is the time to hunt down the best deals. Unless you are very fond of reading small print and enjoy hours on the phone to a call centre, compare gas and electricity prices using online resources that take your consumption, postcode and budget and give you the most favourable options so that you can get the best deal.

When using a comparison site, make sure you use one like www.energychoices.co.uk unlike some sites energy choices is regularly updated with the latest information and the newest deals so with one click you know you’re getting the best deal in troubled times.

Hidden charges on 0% balance transfers. How to miss the pitfalls.

September 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

0 balance tranfers

Borrowing on a credit card can prove expensive over time. To save hundreds of pounds in interest charges many of us take advantage of some lenders offers for 0% balance transfers. Is it just that simple, or can there be unexpected costs to the unwary? Most of the fees are fairly straightforward, but you need to look at all the terms.

Many lenders will levy a charge relating to the transfer of the balance, even if the deal is a 0% transfer. This could be a flat fee or a percentage of the balance switched. Some lenders will cap the fee amount on large transfers.

So What Is Hidden?

What many of us do not realise is that the cost of our balance transfer is apparent on the rate of interest on new purchases. The existing transfer is indeed 0%, but the interest on new purchases may exceed the rate of our old card. Less obvious and potentially more expensive is the ‘negative order of payments’ system. Here we would be obliged to clear the transfer sum before our repayments would reduce the new purchase balance. During this time interest will be charged on new purchases.
This model is not used by all lenders; some are very keen to show borrowers they can take advantage of 0% on the transfer and purchases.
This shows the importance of comparing credit card terms so you can select the most appropriate offer for your needs.

The offer might shout ‘0% balance & 0% on new purchases’ but what is the time limit; and most importantly, when the 0% period has run out what is the exact interest rate. This will then apply to the transfer balance and new purchases. It is well worth noting that the interest rates on 0% credit cards will be significantly higher than a standard card. It is not unheard of that after the 0% period the rate could climb to 16%. If you don’t realise this you could be left with unexpected charges six months down the line.

How do you know you have avoided the pitfalls and got the best deal? Get the information and compare the competition. Many of the comparison sites such as http://www.creditchoices.co.uk will put all the deals side by side as well as hosting many articles exploding the myths and explaining the small print. These are the resources that will give you the knowledge to get the deal that best suits your needs without any nasty suprises.

lion king tickets

UKtickets.co.uk has announced that they now offer tickets to see the lion king for the Monday – Thursday performances throughout November and December.

The Lion King Stage show is based on the 1994 film, by Disney. This show is proving to be very popular this year, appealing to theatre goers both young and old. Oftentimes it can be difficult to secure good seats to see the lion king, unless, of course, you book online.

Booking online has many advantages, from cheaper tickets to the negation of the need to traipse to a ticket outlet in the glorious British rain!

When looking to book lion king tickets online however, be sure to go with a website that is established. The last thing you need is to have problems getting your tickets, or to use a website that doesn’t have a secure booking system.
UKtickets.co.uk has long been established as one of London’s leading ticketing agents (since 1987, infact!). They are 100% dedicated to securing the best seats for all the top west end shows, including many hard to find ‘sell out’ performances.

Seo Blog Gives Webmasters The Latest Tips From Across The Net…

September 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

search engine bot

Many websites offer SEO tips, but most of them seemingly contradict each other…

So how does the newbie webmaster know which advise to take?

One website has popped up aiming to fulfill this need. http://www.seo-tips-blog.info pulls in the latest SEO news from SEO sites across the web, allowing the reader to browse many tips and ideas from lots of different websites all under one ‘virtual roof’.

Getting the latest seo tips can prove very valuable for any online business. It has been said that if your website does not appear within the first 3 pages of Googles search results for your given search term, then your site will suffer from a seriously low amount of relevant traffic.

Why Google Optimisation?

Well, to be blunt, Google is king of the online world! They have a serious majority share of internet searches, so of course pandering to the rules of Google is a good idea if you want exposure for your online business.

Know Google’s Rules

Oftentimes people can be heard moaning about the rules and penalties Google has… but lets be fair here folks! – Google’s business relies on it returning the most relevant results for any given search term… Now, because of the amazing effect a decent Google ranking can have on a websites revenue, many people actually try to trick the Algorithm that Google uses to rank their website above the competition… That is why Google has to defend itself, imposing penalties for such activities…

How To Rank In Google… AND Avoid Getting Banned…

Simple! – Create a great website! – It sounds silly I know, but really! – Make a great website, make it interesting and contain facts or advice that people will want to see….
Then, read many SEO blogs and forums…. read Matt Cutt’s blog … and make sure you update your content and keep your site relevant, fresh, and within the guidelines of Google. – No hidden links or keyword stuffing etc… but as you will be reading Matts blog often, you will be fine ;-)

If you think your products are boring and hard to write about, think out of the box… write content about the products, or unique uses of the products. BE INTERESTING so that people come back to your site.

In real life, if someone we talk to is bland, talks in a monotonous tone, and sends us to sleep in 15mins of chatting, we wouldn’t go back for more (unless we suffered from insomnia!) – Your website is the same! – Make it interesting, and people WILL link to you. It may take a while to get visitors if you are new, that is normal for most people! – Just have in your mind that you want to make your site so interesting, that those that do find you, will keep coming back… and even tell their friends to visit you!

To get things rolling, you can try having a competition online, and advertising it in local press, doing a press release (online also remember!) and telling the folks that you chat to regularly in related forums (you do that already… right?!!!)

Obviously as you can see above, there are a few things you can do to help people find this great site of yours, but you really do need to make sure what you do is Google friendly, so that you don’t end up being hit by ‘friendly seo fire’ between Google’s spam soldiers and the Black Hat SEO guerrillas!

SEO-tips-blog.info is an interesting in the way it pulls info from various sources, but don’t even rely on that site alone! – Also, avoid any SEO company that says it can get you a guaranteed top 10 Google ranking, or such like… SEO is not rocket science, unless you are wanting to research heavily on the subject.

All you need to know to get a website ranked well is what Google’s terms are (so you know the rules of the ‘game’), a little about how to write well, and ideally some good web design practices… the rest you can pick up easily by reading a few decent blogs, and joining in with discussions on webmaster forums… and that advice is coming from me, someone who makes a living in the SEO industry (Hey, did I just shoot myself in the foot there???! Damn!)

Supermarket Credit Cards – Good Value or Rip-Off… Read on!

September 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

supermarket credit cards

It is pretty safe to say that a high % of the population of the UK spend a considerable amount of money in supermarkets, so would taking out a credit card with these companies make sense? We investigate.

Supermarket Credit Cards – What Are They?

Most of the larger supermarkets offer a credit card these days. They work in pretty much the same way as any other reward based credit card. Some even offer the card holder interest free periods, either on balance transfers, or on purchases – Rarely on the two!

Are Supermarket Cards Worth It?

If you spend money in a supermarket as a part of your shopping routine, then probably! – Look out for offers on fuel related to these cards also!

So, How Do I Decide Which Supermarket Credit Card To Choose?

There are a few things to think about here:

Considering the whole idea of supermarket credit cards is to save cash, whilst spending on your shopping in the way would already do, more often than not, the best supermarket card for you is the one from the supermarket you use the most!

Do bear in mind when trying to compare the offers of various stores, that the points systems they use are not as easy to understand as you may at first think!

Make sure you are aware of all the specifics of the offers also, such as the length of any 0% periods, and exactly what is covered by that period.

One really great way of comparing the various supermarket credit card offers is to use a comparison site that covers these types of cards. Http://www.creditchoices.co.uk is a great example of such a site. They have information on most supermarket’s offers all on one page, allowing easy comparison of the cards.

Balance Transfers & Credit Cards – Be Aware Of Hidden Charges

September 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

0 balance transfers
Moving your balance from a credit card that is charging you high interest on your borrowings can possibly save you hundreds of £ in interest payments, but what are the risks?

One problem facing would be switchers, is the possibility of a high fee to actually move the balance.

Balance transfer fees are now added to many credit cards, even to some 0 balance transfer cards. Often this is in the form of a % of the transferred balance, but sometimes can be a set fee.

Some lenders do cap the limit of the fee however.

Balance Transfers and Hidden Costs

Many people may not realise that with a relatively high percentage of balance transfer offers, a higher rate of interest may be charged on any new purchase, when compared to the low interest, of no interest deal on the balance of the transfer. It may even be in the terms of the offer that you have to clear the transferred sum in full before your repayments start to pay off the (new) purchase balance, which does incur an interest charge.

The term used to describe this type of repayment structure is ‘Negative Order of Payments’.

Some card providers may not use this model, and may offer a much better deal for would be balance transfer card holders, allowing them both 0% on balance transfers, and also 0% on new purchases.

This is just one of the reasons it is very important to compare credit cards before applying.

Even with 0 balance transfers and 0% new purchases card as described above, it is well worth making sure you know the exact interest rate once the 0% period has run out… both for the transferred amount, and for new purchases.

The reason for this is that many 0 balance transfer or 0% on purchases credit cards have an interest rate that is substantially higher than their standard interest rate, so if you are not careful, you can easily get stung than higher than expected interest.

In fact, it is not unknown for 0 balance transfer cards to have interest rates outside the 0% offer that are as high as 16%.

If you are a little worried about taking all the above points into consideration, pay a visit to one of the comparison sites, such as http://www.creditchoices.co.uk, where you can find a wealth of articles about related subjects, but also the tools and resources to enable you to compare various offers, and get the deal that suits you the best.

The UK’s favourite Broadband providers named in the latest British Broadband Comparison Users survey

September 16th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

broadband comparison

More than 14 million (56%) UK households now have broadband internet access 1 – over half of the population and with the number growing by over 1m households every year, BroadbandChoices.co.uk, one of the country’s leading broadband comparison sites, finds out what British broadband users really think of the service they’re offered.

The BroadbandChoices.co.uk survey is conducted every six months, in conjunction with PointTopic Ltd, to find out what the country’s broadband users view of the services and costs of their internet providers.

Standing out in the July 2008 survey:

• Sky is top of the ISP pops as far as the British users are concerned, voted top in all 6 satisfaction categories.

• Despite the credit crunch “value for money” has not significantly increased as a concern for UK broadband users since the last survey in February 2008.

• The “satisfaction gap” has increased, with the difference between the top ISP and bottom ISP in every category increasing

• Talk Talk has seen the greatest improvement in its ranking in customer satisfaction levels over the last 6 months.

Over 4,200 households were asked to rank their ISP across 6 categories:

• Quality & Stability of Your Home Internet Service • Download Time of Files & Web Pages
• The Clarity of Pricing & Billing • After Sales Support
• Good Value for Money • Speed of Service Activation

Sky Broadband comes top

Sky was voted the best provider overall, gaining the top spot in every category in the BroadbandChoices.co.uk July 2008 survey:

compare broadband

Interestingly, users consider Sky to offer the most satisfactory download times for pages and files, something which the BroadbandChoices.co.uk monthly download survey often supports with its 2Mbps and 8Mbps packages.

compare broadband packages

Michael Phillips, Product Director at www.BroadbandChoices.co.uk comments:
“Sky is the UK’s fastest growing broadband provider. They have recently increased their advertising presence and set their prices and packages at a level that has attracted a large number of new customers to its service. It seems their approach is working, but it also seems that the general service Sky is offering is good enough to keep their existing customers happy.

The satisfaction gap is increasing

Michael Phillips highlights the increase in the satisfaction gap as an area of concern:
“An area that does concern me is the increase in the satisfaction gap. ISPs should be competing fiercely not only to acquire customers but also to keep them happy and that means a better service across the board. Over the past six months our survey shows that the gap between the top ISP and bottom ISP in each category is getting bigger – so whilst some companies are clearly improving their satisfaction ratings, others are falling further behind.

“The low scores that we see for after sales support, when compared to other categories, demonstrates for the second time running that customers feel neglected after they have signed on the dotted line.”

We still think we’re getting value for money

sky broadband

Michael Phillips, was surprised by the results in this category:
“We had expected a significant decrease in the number of users who felt they were receiving value for money since the last survey, as the credit crunch bites harder in to household incomes. The difference between February and July 2008 is less than 1%, a negligible decrease in overall satisfaction.

“It’s true to say that internet access is cheaper than ever before as bundled deals become the norm, offering excellent value for consumers.

“However, households can still save money. ISPs announce new deals all the time and any household that hasn’t looked at what else is on offer for a year or more may find that they can make significant savings on their annual cost of broadband if they switch to another provider. Our research has shown that users can save an average of £150 per year if they switch to a new package or provider through our website.”

Users see improvements from TalkTalk

Michael Phillips comments;
“It’s nice to see Talk Talk’s service is improving, with users voting more positively for this ISP in most categories since February’s survey. We look forward to seeing how these stats will develop in our next survey.”

A special mention for O2

Although O2’s sample size is currently too small to rank in the key findings/tables in this survey, the company deserves a special mention because, when we compare broadband providers, O2 scores a massive 94% for Fairly/Very Satisfied in “Overall quality and reliability” (Sky 86%; AOL 67%) and an impressive 79% for “After sales support” (some 12% more than Sky and 37% more than Orange).

Oliver Theatre Breaks Possibly Saves My Marriage!

September 10th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

My wife is a keen fan of the west end musical, as her birthday next year coincides with the run of the new production of Oliver I thought a nice treat would be catching a show in the big smoke . I had been pulling my hair out ever since. Trying to locate tickets is a distributed nightmare and so expensive! Living outside of London also means transport/accommodation dramas.

I was beginning to think it would have to be a bouquet of flowers and another new dress.
What with the youth raving about this new fangled internet business, I decided to chance my hand online and see if I could do more, sitting at home. And I found Oliver theatre breaks on offer on www.westendtheatrebreaks.com while the clue is in the title;

I have to admit to being quietly impressed. Suddenly, real-time availability was there at a glance and the choice of hotels (3-5*) real-world choice. In a matter of minutes the dates were booked as was the hotel and without resorting to the abacus, even I could see that theatre breaks in London was somewhat cheaper than trying to book separately myself. So it looks like next year, she shall be attending the ball.

Fixed Price Energy – Can YOU Save On Your Energy Bills?

September 10th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Energy bills are soaring, so now customers are looking for ways to save money with their household energy bills.

This is not surprising, what with all the news on the about adverse geopolitical situations and the soaring commodity market, and with British Gas prices recently rising by 35%, and Electricity prices rising by 9%!

Fixed price energy tariffs are one way that consumers can save money on their bills.

The good thing about Fixed Price tariffs is that you know where you are for the agreed term of the contract and can plan accordingly with no price increases above and beyond the agreed amounts. More often than not, this period is 1 to 2 yrs.

In the present climate of high energy prices , these deals are certainly more enticing and affordable.

When you are considering these types of agreements then, there are two basic points to consider.

1. At all times understand where and when the agreement both starts and ends and the possibility of price increases after termination of the agreement.

2. Some suppliers of the fixed price energy deals may reduce your capped Unit price if there is a drop in their standard prices, whereas other providers may not do this. -Make sure you know which is the case with your energy provider!

The main benefit of fixed price tariffs is being able to accurately forecast your charges and costs well in advance.

This has become more and more vital as the price hikes have taken effect. It is worth noting that it’s not just British Gas that are having to increase their gas prices. EDF Energy are also increasing their prices, as are many other energy providers.

So it would seem that now is a better time than any to check the deals on fixed price energy that are available in your area. It has to a bit of a no brainer really to use the various online price comparison sites to help you with your research to get the most favourable options available to you.

Where possible use a website that has the ability to drill down data via the use of a post code to help you get a more accurate idea of what is applicable and available to your area.

One such site is www.energychoices.co.uk. Unlike some comparison sites, energychoices has a high amount of frequently updated information about the latest twists and turns in the energy market, thus being a one stop shop’ consumers can go visit to find out how they can get the best deals in this turbulent climate.

Theatre Breaks… A good escape from the credit crunch?

September 10th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

The subprime financial crisis may be affecting many business and some parts of the entertainment industry, but with in excess of 13 million people attending the theatre in 2007, it is a fairly reliable bet to say that the imminent demise of the west end as form of entertainment is slightly being too pessimistic. It has been argued that the increased stress found in most peoples lives actually go some way to arguing the point that a break away is just what the doctor ordered.

A night at the theatre certainly fulfills that need for escapism. Throughout this all there is one inescapable fact and that is that people are ever more increasingly looking for tickets at bargain prices and hence the growth in the availability of online Booking Agencies. Websites such as www.uktickets.co.uk are specialist sources in the provision of tickets at the best prices for these shows.

Dirty Dancing

One of the better illustrations of this is the film Dirty Dancing which considering that it is well over 20 years old since it was first released shows no sign of diminishing in popularity. The range of spin offs from the film “Dirty Dancing” was such that at one point it was hard to ignore the film.

Over the years the show has even outclassed the success of the movie with in one particular case, the show selling over 200,000 tickets in one particular stretch for one show in 2004 When Dirty Dancing opened at the Aldwych theate (Oct 2006), dirty dancing theatre tickets brought in the highest pre-sales in the London theatrical history, in fact, some of the weekend performances were selling out up to 6 months in advance.

Cream Tastes Better – If Made With Nitrous Oxide Chargers

September 6th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

nitrous oxide chargers

-

Throughout the world, top quality restaurateurs prefer to use cream freshly whipped themselves with cream whippers and nitrous oxide cream chargers , rather than using cans of pre-whipped cream.

– But is this just pretentious snobbery? – Or does freshly whipped cream actually taste better?

Any cream that has over 29% fat may be used as whipping cream.

When whipped, the cream has around double the volume due to the gas being trapped inside fatty droplets.

Nitrous Oxide is the gas that is used in most commercial pre-canned whipped cream, and is also used in nitrous oxide chargers, that are used with cream whippers (like the one in the photo)

The vast majority of people in the catering trade do say that freshly made cream tastes much better than canned whipped cream.

We tried the blindfold test with the guys and gals in our office, but it was a pretty even split between the freshly whipped, and the canned variety…

Most high class restaurant owners do say however that any true connoisseur can tell the difference straight away, and many stated that they would not be caught with a can of whipped cream in their hand, and would sack any of their chefs caught with one! – Those are pretty strong words given the temperament of most chef´s these days!

So, I guess mere tasteless minions like me will just have to take the posh nosh restaurant owners words for it! – I do have to admit, if I had the choice, I would rather be served freshly whipped cream if I were paying for a decent meal!

During our research, one of the girls in the office found a rather tasty alternative use for nitrous oxide cream dispensers!

There now exists a brand of nitrous oxide chargers called ´Erotica´ – and the tag line of the product, and website selling the stuff is “Whip it on, Lick it off!” – We will leave the rest to your imagination, but suffice to say, when she read the quote out loud, there were lots of volunteers in our office for a new version of our previous ´blindfold test´ – Unfortunately she declined… stating that it´s not in her job description! – Ah Well! Nice try lads!

Are PrePaid Credit Cards Useful? We Investigate…

September 4th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

What are PrePaid cards?

Pre paid credit cards are almost like debit cards, except for they may be used just about anywhere that accepts the brand of card. (For example Visa or Mastercard) The reason I say they are like a debit card, is that there is no ‘credit’ as such.

As the card holder, you simply load the funds onto the card as and when you need to, and spend as you will.

Pre paid Credit Cards – The Facts…

1. Pre paid Credit Cards , What Use Are They? Well, many people think that prepaid credit cards are less of a concern when taken abroad. – If the card is stolen, the thief can only take out what is loaded on the card, and so cannot run you into debt.
2. Some Pre paid cards can be taken out different currencies than your home currency… Making them great for use abroad
3. It is vitually impossible to get into bad debt with most of these cards! –Normally, you cannot go overdrawn. (But be sure to check with the provider though, NEVER assume anything where credit is concerned!!!)
4. The fact that there is no credit check needed when applying means that you can many of these cards, and not have to worry about excess credit checks ruining your credit rating!
5. Prepaid cards can be a great idea for online payments, because if a ‘hacker’ or ‘cracker’ gets access to your details, then they’ll not be able to cause you to be in large amounts of debt. (Again, check the details with each card provider)
6. Finally, another possible benefit of not having a credit check carried out on you is that anyone (over 18 usually) with decent ID can acquire a card, no matter how bad their credit score is.

Looking at the facts above, it is plain to see that although they can be a little more costly to use, prepaid credit cards do have their place.
