Instant Decision Credit Cards – A Good Buffer For Debt???

December 26th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Financial management has always been a tricky task. Unless you are super-organised or terribly well-off, a certain amount of budgetry and cash juggling is required to ensure financial security and quality of life. With the deepening crisis on the world financial markets and the spectre of christmas benevolence threatening the limited reserves it may be a case of tighten the belts or rustle a plan of action. While inappropriate application of the credit markethas caused the crisis we endure it is possible to responsibly use the credit offered by the banks and supermarkets to your advantage over the christmas period to ensure everything goes with a bang yet remains affordable.

Interest free credit cards are well worth investigating this time of year as they offer some breathing space after the festivities to ensure the budget isn’t blown. There can be some hidden pitfalls with cards such as these as sometimes the provider will include caveats that mean some purchases or facilities will incur interest charges. Although fairly straight forward and perfectly legal you will find these details in the dreaded ‘terms and conditions’ part- not everyone’s favourite reading material.

Supermarket Credit Cards

Supermarket credit cards are also another area worthy of research, most of us will be be spending significantly more than usual in the supermarkets overchristmas, so why not get some rewards as you spend. The idea is pretty simple, many of the offers with supermarket credit cards match those of the typical providers but with added incentives for spending in store. If you were planning on spending the money anyway, why not use their card and reap the benefits then pay off the balance immediately. Conversely, as there are often interest free options you can budget to pay for the shopping before the interest free period ends yet still get the advantages of the rewards.

Though how to choose? With so many providers vying for our custom how do we sift the headline offers from the real value? The easiest way would be to use a comparison website like CreditChoices. They have done the hard work for you and you can judge the providers side by side with all the small print writ large. Whichever site you use it is wise to know how often the site is updated and tend towards a site that offers impartial advice so you can be sure your decision is informed and helpfull.

Theatre Breaks – An Amazing Way to See a Show…

December 24th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

‘Theatre break’ is the term given to a short break away, comprising of a ticket to a theatrical performance, coupled with a nights stay at a hotel. Such breaks are often thought to be expensive, but westendbreaks.com dispells this myth.

Weekend Theatre Breaks Need Not Be Expensve…

It is a shame that many people seem to think that a weekend theatre break is out of their budget. It is usually the case that a dedicated business can supply you with a complete theatre break package for less than many ‘third party ticket outlets’ would charge you for a tickets to a show alone.

Cheap Theatre Breaks…

Westendtheatrebreaks.com have been in the business for over 20 years, and are dedicated to offering the very best deals when it comes to cheap theatre breaks. Although their deals are cheap, this should not be confused with cheap quality! – westendtheatrebreaks.com uses top London hotels when the arrange their breaks, and have great prices due to their long history with the show houses and hotels of London.

For example, their site boasts theatre breaks based around the show ‘Spamalot’ by Monty Python, for as little as £55.

Most theatre breaks include a fully English breakfast the next day, meaning you should return home entertained, rested, and a few pounds heavier!!!

How to Save Money This Winter? – Compare Energy Prices!

December 24th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

With global financial uncertainty and spiralling energy cost sending chills down the spine all summer, many people are taking any steps they can to ensure that the lights and the heating stay on and that the energy budget is affordable. There have been big headlines and most energy providers have been offering fixed price enregy tariffs and capped energy deals. But, are these deals all they’ve cracked up to be and are they the best means of getting the best energy prices?

As usual, the story is always somewhat more complex than first meets the eye. In the middle of summer a barrel of oil would have cost $144 whereas now you can expect to pay around $60 a barrel. Whilst the oil producers are trying to keep prices artificially high by limiting production serious work is being done by lobbyists and government officials alike as they try and avoid the potential crisis of energy shortages/poverty.

Fixed Price Energy

In July fixed and capped tariffs were the big news and certainly pushed abutton with many consumers worried about the winter ahead. Though most providers will not pass on a reduction in energy cost to consumers if you have signed up for a fixed tariff. Although contractually bound it is still possible to leave a fixed tariff by paying the cancellation fee (normally between £20-50), it has never been more worthwhile to compare energy prices as the difference in unit cost for a fixed tariff and the newly reduced variable package may quickly swallow the cancellation fee if the difference is that great or your usage is high.

It is also worth investigating the discounts that are avilable if you go paperless and deal with your energy supplier online or by direct debit. Though the last word should always be conservation not consumption. Any pound spent on insulation will pay itself back many times over as compared to pounds spent heating your home, and the government now has many schemes available to help households improve their insulation.

Lenders ever cautious when handing out new credit

December 24th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Before the credit crunch, the number and type of credit cards available was staggering. Every lender had a menu of products, now we are in the position where credit is being offered only cautiously, but the lenders must still keep lending to keep in business. So even if times are tight but you are responsible borrower, now is a good time to use the credit market to your advantage.

0 Balance Transfers

With the Christmas excess most of us spend much more than usual, though as long as you are realistic with you’re spending a 0 balance transfer might just help take up the slack. There is a massive choice of lenders, so, with good history you should be able to compare the offers and choose the best rate for your circumstances.

At one time the choice was between a 0% card or an interest free credit card, today, all of the best offers try and tie in an interest free period with a balance transfer. This has the potential to give the borrower a really flexible card- for the duration of the offer.

But- gone are the days of free debt, every provider now levies a transfer fee on all transactions to ensure even if you stick to every term and clear your debt before the end of the period they have made the transaction worthwhile for their business. So, if you’re a responsible borrower you may still use the credit market wisely and to financial success, but as always, understand the terms so as not to receive any nasty surprises in the new year.

London Theatre Tickets On Sale. Worldwide.

December 23rd, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

In an unprecedented move, the Nation Theatre, headed by Nicholas Hytner has announced it’s intention to film four productions this year. The move, likely to cause palpitations in the theatrical orthodoxy, is aimed at increasing the profile of British theatre, the National and perhaps most importantly, bringing a new audience to productions that are, by definition, only ever seen by the few.

The plan is to film one performance of each of the four selected productions and stream it directly to up to fifty independent cinemas throught Britain and broadcast to up to a hundred more worldwide. This would have the advantage of minimising the disruption to the production whilst providing a massive amount of coverage and interest. The audience to the filmed performance are thought to be offered discount tickets for their forebearance.

Another consequence of this move, one obviously considered by the theatre, is that the streamed performance is only going to be available to independant cinemas in Britain, giving a much needed cash injection to the independents whilst reminding the public that the multiplex is not the totality of the cinema world.

Helen Mirren, who will be treading the boards for the first time in six years, is the first actor to offer approval of the project and will be fronting the PR campaign, set to begin in April.
Commenting on the project, Hytner said, “If (Laurence) Olivier’s productions had been available in Manchester when I was a teenager, I would have gone every time,” which means for the first time London theatre tickets might be bringing in revenue from Bristol to Botswana.

Buying Cheap mp3 / mp4 Players… Is it Worth it???

December 21st, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Many people are cautious about buying ‘cheap mp3 players, or a cheap mp4 player. This causes people to stick closely to the big name brands they know and trust, but are they loosing out because of this?

Can a Cheap MP4 Player be Any Good?

Some cheap mp3/4 players really are abismal, many even go as far as tricking purchaser by tweaking the chip inside them to falsly display their memory capacity (and guess what folks, they tweak them the to appear bigger than they are, not smaller).

There are some exceptions, of course…

Onda mp4 players are actually made to a high standard, and are also significantly cheaper than the top name brands that you will find on the high street.

Just for example, the Onda vx747 has a touch screen display, can play almost any music file format (which in itself is much better than the so called ‘top brand’ models). The vx747 also playes most video formats.

How to Onda mp4 Players Differ?

Onda mp4 players differ from other cheap mp3/4 players mainly in build quality and functionality. We already mentioned the funcionality side of this, so all that is really left to say is that Onda mp4 players are made to a very high standard, and have recieved many good reviews.

Wher to Buy Onda Players

So, we have mentioned a good quality yet cheap mp3/4 player, but where do you buy them from? – It is unlikely you will see them in any highstreet any time soon, so you are left with buying them online.

Be careful where you buy them from. Try to go for a UK based website, one that also has a secure payment system, such as Google Checkout, for example.

It may be wise to avoid buying direct from China or Japan, for fear of getting stung.

100% Mortgages An Introduction…

December 21st, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

100% mortgages

Although now defunct, 100% mortgages used to be popular with 1st time buyers, offering a loan for the complete value of the property. Mortgage repayment rates for 100% mortgages tended to be higher than pretty much all other mortgages, but borrowers were made to understand that this was due, in part, to the extra risk on the part of the lender.

As well as the 100% mortgage, some lenders even offered to lend up to 125% of the value of the property, so the house buyer could purchase household goods, as well as pay for things like solicitors fees and valuations.

Back in 2006, roughly 2 percent of all mortgages were 100% ones. (Sourced from the Council of Mortgage Lenders)

Are 100% Mortgages Still Available?

In a word, No. the credit crunch has closed the door on 100% mortgages. Whether this is a long term thing, or just a temporary issues whilst the powers at be sort out the housing market and other issues, we do not yet know. Some people say we will see a return to 100% mortgages, whilst others are more sceptical.
The reason 100% mortgages are no longer available is pretty simple. Mortgage providers rely on borrowing money from other lenders at very competitive rates, who in turn rely on house prices rising steadily. Since October ’07, there has been a slump in house prices, to the extent that 1 year later, in October ’08, house prices were lower than 2007.

This has left some mortgages holders in ‘Negative Equity’ – a term used to describe having a mortgage debt that is higher than the value of your property.
If you came here looking for a 100% mortgage, do not despair. It would be wise to use a mortgage calculator to work out what you can or can’t afford, and what deal would be best for you.

Mortgage Calculators – What Are They?

A mortgage calculator is basically a tool that can be used to determine what your monthly repayments should be for any given mortgage. Some of the best mortgage calculators allow you to input the sum to be borrowed, the % rate that you have been offered, and the repayment period. The calculator will then give you details such as your monthly repayment amount, the total cost of the mortgage, and even the total interest paid for the mortgage.

It may be surprising what you find when you use one of these tools to work out how good the mortgage you are being offered really is – Seeing the figures in black and white in front of you in a concise table can really clear the fog somewhat.

About Credit Choices.

Creditchoices are a leading comparison site for finance matters. On their site you can compare everything from abbey mortgages to instant decision credit cards, and much more.

Creditchoices also have a plethora of facts and guides, in an effort to educate the consumer, so they can make informed and sensible decisions when looking for credit.

British Gas Homecare… What is it All About?

December 19th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Christmas dinner is in the oven. The entire family is lurking round the Christmas tree slurping on eggnog. The extended family are being bussed in from all points compass and general goodwill is being spread ever further. Her Majesty is due on the box shortly when… Due to the excess loads made on the system by all the extra family and all the extra washing the boiler goes pop, bang and then too quiet.

Plumbers are known to be an expensive hobby, they charge a good deal for their specialised knowledge, even more for a call out fee, an astronomical sum for arriving on Christmas day and, even if the boiler is repairable you must then add the costs of parts and labour or a new boiler. And, when your Nan asks ‘Where’s the British Gas Boiler Cover then dear?’ The appropriate answer probably should be- ‘in the bureau Nan.’

British Gas Homecare is an insurance policy which can cover not only the boiler, but the whole central heating system, the drains, electrical wiring and associated fixtures. Of course the premiums vary depending on the desired level of cover, but by any means of reckoning, it would take several years of insurance premiums to match the cost of one boiler failure.

British Gas also of a ‘Flexi Option’ that equates to a thirty percent discount on the premium though you would be obliged to pay the first fifty pounds if you need to make the call- much like the policy excess now a key feature of many car insurance policies. There are of course many providers of home insurance and specialist cover and a quick comparison of the market should give you all the facts and figures necessary to make an informed decision and have real piece of mind over winter.

Energychoices.co.uk has a wealth of information about all aspects of boiler insurance, as well as supplying visitors the wherewithal to compare gas and electricity prices online, to ensure you are getting the best deal possible in your area.

Mortgage Protection Cover Explained…

December 19th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

As the repercussions of the Credit crunch and recession begin to take effect, many people are beginning to question their job security. Most people’s lifestyle’s are based on the regular income their work provides. With unemployment figures set to reach two million by christmas the potential for mortgage arrears and repossessions is, at best, extremely worrying.

If you have financial trouble and are unable to meet your mortgage repayments most lenders will offer three months grace before instituting repossession proceedings, but given the climate there are likely to be many more applicants than available jobs. While the lenders are under serious governmental pressure to avoid repossion and seek alternative arrangements it is likely that many people will find themselves in no position to honour their debts in the foreseable future.

If you are unable to work you may be eligible for state benefits, however, these will not be available until you have been out of work for nine months- too long for many households. A specific insurance policy has been offered by many lenders and insurance underwriters known as Mortgage Protection Cover. The policy is designed to kick in if you are made redundant or fall sick, though most policies will only pay for twelve months. There are policies available that will cover twenty four months and also cover general household bills, but you can expect to pay significantly more for the added protection.

The manner in which mortgage protection cover has been sold has come under close scrutiny recently and in November the competition commission ruled that such cover could no longer be sold with a mortgage. Mortgage protection cover is not a legal requirement and given that up to one fifth of banks profits come from such policies the decision to break the direct link between Lenders and these policies has been well received. There is wealth of insurance policies available from income and life insurance to Mortgage and mortage life insurance. The costs and cover can vary massively and some forms of insurance may not suit your profile, so, as ever careful research is required and if the worst does happen the protection you have paid for will cover your circumstances.

INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS CALLS NEEDN’T COST THE EARTH THIS CHRISTMAS

December 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

• Brits could save over 90%1 on festive phone calls to friends and family overseas by using their broadband connection.

• Research from BroadbandChoices.co.uk found that only 30%2 of UK households with broadband use the internet to make calls.

People with friends and family living abroad this Christmas may find it’s not just the cost of gifts that will leave them out of pocket during the festive season.

Last year the British public spent a staggering £3.5 million3 making international calls to wish their friends and relatives overseas a “Merry Christmas,” and it is likely to be a similar figure this year. However, recent research from BroadbandChoices.co.uk has revealed that 70% of British households with broadband access are missing out on the chance to save up to 90% on their ‘festive phone bill’ simply by using the internet to make VoIP calls instead of using their landline.

VoIP (or voice over internet protocol) phone calls are made over your existing broadband connection and not through your regular phone line (or network) like most traditional phone companies such as BT or TalkTalk. By taking ordinary analogue signals and turning them into digital signals, it allows you to ring people using your broadband connection. VoIP services are growing rapidly in popularity because they are easy to set up and all calls to other VoIP users are completely free(4).

In addition, calls made from VoIP to landlines can be cheaper than other service providers. For example, Vonage has unlimited call packages to international numbers starting from £6.99 a month and Skype provides a range of pay as you go and monthly subscription packages which allow unlimited calls to European countries from £3.39 per month and an unlimited international package from £7.99. But remember, the real savings are for VoIP to VoIP calls (which are free) and the ‘unlimited’ call offers might only makes commercial sense if you make a high volume of international calls.

Michael Phillips, Product Director, BroadbandChoices.co.uk said:
“Christmas is always an expensive time of year and people need to be smarter with their money in these cash-strapped times, so I would urge anyone with relatives and friends living overseas and a broadband connection to seriously consider VoIP.

“VoIP can offer significant savings compared with landline and mobile alternatives particularly when calling internationally and with only 30% of consumers currently making use of their broadband connection in this way, there is the potential for massive savings to be made this Christmas.

“Consumers should choose their VoIP provider carefully because there are dozens of VoIP providers offering overseas calls for next to nothing but call quality, set up costs and connection costs can vary between providers. Use a comparison service like HomephoneChoices.co.uk to compare the best packages available on the market.”

“It is also worth remembering that landline providers such as TalkTalk offer highly competitive overseas calls and broadband packages, so by switching to TalkTalk, you could cut your phone and broadband bills together. There’s the benefit of landline quality calls and, dependent on your incumbent supplier and specific requirements, this might actually work out cheaper.”

“The key thing is to be smart and compare the options to see how you can make significant international call savings this Christmas.”

Virgin Media Launch new 50meg Broadband – broadbandchoices comment.

December 15th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Michael Phillips, Product Director, BroadbandChoices.co.uk said:

“We are encouraged to see Virgin Media pushing the boundaries of internet
technology to introduce this super-high speed broadband service.

“As one of the UK’s leading ISPs, Virgin has been at the forefront of
broadband developments and the launch of their 50Mbps package is an
important first step towards bringing the UK up to speed with the rest of
Europe, where it currently lags behind – for example, Finland already enjoys
an average download speed of 21.7Mbps(1).

“The initial offering from Virgin Media will only be made available to about
10% of Virgin Media’s customers and an even smaller percentage of the UK
broadband population but they are claiming a rapid rollout in 2009.

“There’s no doubt that this new product will appeal to early adopters – for
example, Virgin identifies online gamers as core target subscribers.

“At this stage, the applications are limited, until high definition content
is readily available on services like iplayer.

“We hope that this service delivers on the 50Mbps price promise, as the
broadband industry has suffered from over-promising and under-delivering on
internet speeds.

“We would encourage the government to support BT in investing in a next
generation network that the whole country could enjoy.

“We note that Virgin says it will be trialling a variety of traffic
management approaches with the service but at £51 per month as a standalone
subscription, or £35 per month when bundled with phone (an additional £11)
we would urge Virgin to stick to its ‘unlimited service with no traffic
management’ initial launch offering. It would be a real shame if a package
that promises so much in terms of speed ultimately constrains users during
peak hours.(2)”

Struggling to Afford a Short Break Due to Weak Pound? Consider a London Theatre Break.

December 15th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

With the GB pound low against both the US dollar and the Euro, short breaks in Europe and the US seem a lot less attractive!

This doesn’t however mean that people have to miss out on quick getaways. Many people are looking to their own little island for short breaks.

Our Capitol city for example has lots to offer those seeking a spot of brief escapism. For example, you may wish to visit the London eye, and get a bridseye view of central London and beyond.

Another possibility would be to combine a sightseeing tour of London with a West End theatre break.

What is a Theatre Break

The term ‘Theatre Breaks‘ is is commonly used to describe a short break (usually at weekends) that consits of a ticket to a theatrical show, combined with a nights stay at a hotel, sometimes with breakfast included in the price.

Part of the popularity of such breaks is that usually after a show, the magical feeling that the theatre bestoys on people fades all too rapidly when, for example, the person gets on a crowded train for the journey home. Whereas with a theatre break, after the show a top London hotel awaits, and thus the magic continues.

How to Book Theatre Breaks, and are They Cheap?

The most common way to book a theatre break is online. There are lots of sites that offer a booking service for theatre breaks, so to some extent you can take your pick. As regards cost, cheap theatre breaks are available, but make sure you choose a reliable company to book through.

It is advisable however, to choose a site that has been around for a while, and is member of The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers.

Such a site is www.westendtheatrebreaks, with over 20years in the industry, you can be confident that they will be able to offer you a great deal.

Star Wars to hit The London Stage…

December 15th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

George Lucas is planning to rework the Star Wars series of films into a musical extravaganza. With Lucas masterminding the show, and John Williams being reported to have rewritten six films worth of musical score to fit into a two hour concert, the performance is set to be spectacular indeed.

Rather than be performed as a musical, the piece will be a series of clips from the actual movies, accompanied by an orchestral score. The actors will narrate the story. This is to all take place at the 02 Arena in London’s Southeast, a venue that can seat 17’000 people.

A total of 86 musicians form the RPO will play the modified scores provided by John Williams.

Additionally, the venue will be a host to an exhibition of Star Wars costumes, Start Wars movie props, Models, and also artwork from all 6 films.

The Star Wars movies are amongst the most popular of all Sci Fi films, it remains to be seen whether this unusual show will be equally as popular, and whether it will be populated by Star Wars fans, or fans of stage performances in general.

One thing is for certain, the performance will be an interesting one! Even though the venue holds 17’000, tickets may well sell out rapidly, so watch this space…

Compare Electricity Prices – and Check out Fixed Price Energy

December 14th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

There is a lot of buzz about fixed price energy and given the massive price hikes (up to 35%!) and market instability, Many people want to find out the score and see if they canreally save, or if this is just another marketing ploy to get as many customers as possible on contract. For most people the prospect of calling every energy provider to find out a) if they provide in their area, b) if they offer a fixed price tariff and c) what are the contractual terms and d) what small print nasties lurk beneath the surface fills them with the creeping horrors of muzak and ‘your call is important to us….’

Maybe try a comparison site like www.energychoices.co.uk this is an independent energy comparison website that lists all of the suppliers, all of the tariffs and lays them side by side so it’s possible to really compare the value. Not only that, use the postcode search to find out whether a particular provider can supply your area and a decent selection of well-written articles so jargon and small-print are no longer your enemies. And, unlike some comparison sites, this one is regularly updated so you can be sure the offers listed are current and available.

If you are l impressed, and found a good package you too could be certain of your energy bills until 2012, You could also get a saving on my gas and electricity prices for having them with the same company, which will give greater savings overall.

British gas Boiler Cover – Great Idea, or Waste of Money?

December 12th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

If you are unsure whether you should take out boiler cover, consider that during the winter months, an excess load can be made on your heating system due the extra use. Because of this, getting a plumber to come out during the winter months can be both hard work and expensive.

Plumbers charge a good deal for their specialised knowledge, even more for a call out fee, an astronomical sum for arriving on bank holidays or weekends and, even if the boiler is repairable you must then add the costs of parts and labour or a new boiler. And, when your Nan asks ‘Where’s the British Gas Boiler Cover then dear?’ The appropriate answer probably should be- ‘in the bureau Nan.’

British Gas Homecare is an insurance policy which can cover not only the boiler, but the whole central heating system, the drains, electrical wiring and associated fixteures. Of course the premiums vary depending on the desired level of cover, but by any means of reckoning, it would take several years of insurance premiums to match the cost of one boiler faliure.

A Savings Calculator for quiet times

December 12th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Many Banks and financial institutions are currently trying to change the tone of the recession caused by irresponsible financial practice. If we look to the advertising stances offered by the main institutions the themes seem to be trust and understanding. ‘Trust us with your savings’ and ‘we understand difficult times’. So, if you are a responsible borrower is it all doom and gloom or are there still opportunities available. The banks are always shouting about the value of their interest rates they offer to savers but what do they really offer in terms of monetary growth? We often just look at the figures and then choose the biggest number but it is wise to know what you are getting for giving the banks your money. They will be investing it and using it to make more money but to find out what that means to you, it would be wise to run the numbers and use a savings calculator . This way you can find out how much the banks will pay you for the privelege of holding your money for a year, if you’re not impressed then maybe it’s time to call for a better rate from your bank or move your money elsewhere.

What if I have had Adverse Credit Issues?

To turn to difficult times, many of us at some point or other have struggled financially, and that has led to some of us having very poor credit history and therefore being ineligible for credit or loans in the future. In response, we are offered Adverse Credit cards , seen as a way to recover our credit worthiness and improve our ‘credit history’. Are they all they claim? Both yes and no. It is possible to use one wisely and avoid any charges and any interest, by paying off the full balance every month before the the minimum repayment date, after a year or so you should have a proven credit history that should allow you to get more favourable terms. However, if you you can’t meet the entire balance before this time then interest will be charged at a rate which averages 40%, if you make the minimum payments on a few hundred pounds you may find that you will finish the repayments at the end of the next recession. As ever, the devil is in the detail. So especially if times are tight or you are hoping for a decent return on your investment- check the small print.

Benefits of Carrying Out a Credit Rating Check

Whilst proving your credit worthiness and responsibly servicing your debt, it is advisable to know where you stand. Apply for a Credit Ratings Check so you are aware of what issues have caused you problems in the past and what to avoid in the future. Also, only ask for credit you are likely to get and really need, asking for large loans and being refused can also have a negative effect on your credit rating.

Triumph Street Triple R model sales are high

December 11th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Triumph are well know for producing very high quality motorbikes.

Their ‘Street Triple’ bike amazing riders both young and old when it was releases in 2007. The street triple shares the 675cc engine that made the daytona 675 a glory to ride. Add to that the fairingless look of the bike, and you have an amazing ‘street fighter’.

The street triple R series has various upgrades, including adjustable, uprated suspenson.

Triumph produce far fewer motorbikes than some of their rivals, such as Suzuki and other Japanese makes, but they are noted for their build quality, and have fans of just about every age group.

Kingpin-seo spoke with one of the designers of the 675 engine recently at the Birmingham ‘Carole Nash’ motorbike show.

The engine design team member was said to be a serious fan of the 675 engine himself, and agrees with many people’s opinion that the street triple can be more fun to ride than the larger cc Triumph Speed Triple 1050 – which, unsurprisingly has a 1050cc engine.

Broadbandchoices comment on joint approach to Internet Streaming TV on Demand

December 11th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

tv on demand

11 December 2009

BroadbandChoices.co.uk comments on the news that the BBC, ITV and BT are
joining together to promote a common industry approach to deliver on-demand
TV over broadband for consumers

* Broadband users need to be made more aware of their download limits
and fair usage policies

* ISPs need to continue to invest in fast, reliable broadband networks

Michael Phillips, Product Director at BroadbandChoices.co.uk, comments:

“We welcome the proposal as a compelling consumer application for broadband
and the next logical step in the development of the broadcasters’ web-based
on demand services.

“Consumers would need to be mindful of their broadband download limits since
these could easily be exceeded by accessing the type of on-demand and high
definition content to which the consortium alludes. Recent research has
shown that 86%(1) of broadband customers still aren’t aware of, or don’t
understand, their download limits. If they were to exceed them they could
face punitive charges. ISPs must make the limits clear and broadcasters
must clearly highlight the size of various types of content.

“Whilst ITV calls the planned services ‘free,’ some ISPs charge customers 75
pence or more for each GB they download above their monthly limit so costs
could quickly escalate – and this would be in addition to their television
license fee.

“This is an exciting development and we would urge ISPs to continue to
invest in their networks to provide fast, reliable broadband services to
support it.”

Onda MP4 Player- Can it challenge the mighty pod?

December 10th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Much has been made of the potential pitfalls of buying online. If you’re not careful you can expose sensitive details to the unscrupulous, buy what looks great onscreen- though is somewhat less than a great deal, or just gets lost in the post. This has led many, who will still buy online, to use brands and sites that are well recognised. For example, you want tunes so you buy your pod from the manufacturer. Now, we’ll all agree that the makers of the most popular device are onto a good thing. All and sundry leap to extole the virtues, stability and stylistic benefits of your purchase- but are you getting the best value?

Let’s assume that being net savvy, you have chosen a reputable site based in your country of residence and have checked out the payment terms and guarantee. Can you make a comparison between the leading touch machine and offerings from other manufacturers? Try The Onda VX747. While direct comparisons often fail at the first hurdle this MP4 player stands up well. A premier manufactuere is offering a 32Gb touch screen with 3.5 inch touch screen, the Onda version arrives with an 8Gb internal memory yet can accept a 32Gb microSD card, taking the overall capacity to 40Gb. Admittedly the screen is slightly smaller at 3 inches, still both are acceptable for both music videos and movies on the move. The Premier machine does offer a couple of class leading facilities such as wifi, Google maps and and a slection of applications aimed at the gaming market. Such functionality can come at a price- you can only use a certain format for music and video and proprietry software for the applications. Meanwhile Onda have tried to steer clear of the headlines and seem to have focused on real-world functionality- the machine is compatible with many formats including Audio MP3, WMA, WMA/VBR, APE, FLAC , AAC, Video RM, RMVB, AVI, DIVX, XVID, FLV, DAT, ASF, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MPG , SWF. So whether at home or with friends this platform should be compatible with whatever toys they’re using. It also boasts an FM radio, digital voice recorder and JPEG viewer and Etext reader. Maybe not as flashy as the entire internet in your pocket but if you commute, you can rehearse your presentation whilst keeping yourself entertained.

Tech-talk aside, both devices are very pretty to look at, easy to use and have Lithium Ion batteries for long-life and easy recharging. But, what’s the bottom line? Well headline grabbers will dent your pocket to the tune of £285 fully armed with 32Gb’s of action, the Onda arrives with 8Gb onboard for £89.99 and a 32Gb micro SD is likely to cost £50. In brutal terms- half the price and still a contender, which causes those who aren’t on the IT-list to ask ‘where’s the best value for money if you want cheap MP3 players ?’

EPC – Energy Performance Certificates… Are You Allowed to Sell or Rent Without One?

December 9th, 2008 by admin | 1 Comment | Filed in Press Releases

The term EPC stands for Energy Performance Certificate and is part of the Home Information Pack (HIP), which current UK legislation requires all house sellers to provide to prospective buyers.

This means that by law, you are not permitted to sell your home out without having an EPC certificate.

Any landlord wishing to rent out a property will have to provide an EPC to the prospective tenants the first time they let a home after 1st Oct ’08.

The EPC is, however, only required for properties that are self contained, and the certificate is valid for a period of 10years. This means that an EPC is not required when renting a room to a tenant.

The EPC section of the Home Information Pack is designed to provide an energy rating for the house. Usually, the EPC provides energy efficiency information in graph form, and covers various points, from heating to lighting.

EPC Rating System

The rating system uses letters to denote the overall efficiency of the home, with an ‘A’ rating being the most efficient, and a ‘G’ the least.

The vast majority of homes in the UK fall under the D to E class.

Another purpose of the EPC is to point out areas of possible energy efficiency improvement, in order to reduce ‘carbon footprints’ and reduce energy costs.

Most individual house sellers, however, see the EPC and HIP as simply another formality involved when selling their home.

If you are confused by the above information, or wish to know more, try getting in touch with the experts. www.uk-epc.co.uk are specialists in providing energy advise to everyone from large corporations and local authorities, down to individuals struggling to come to terms with the implications of the new home Information Pack legislation.

BroadbandChoices.co.uk comments on the new BBC streaming service

December 1st, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

• Broadband users need to be aware of their download limits and fair usage policies before streaming live TV programmes

• BroadbandChoices.co.uk offers its top downloading tips for consumers thinking of using this service

Michael Phillips, Product Director, BroadbandChoices.co.uk commented:

“This new service from the BBC is a positive step forward and allows broadband users to take advantage of exciting new applications and new content. We are concerned however that the wider public may not be sufficiently aware of the broadband usage caps and fair usage policies they may fall foul of when using this new service.

“The BBC iPlayer successfully opened up the downloading of high quality video programmes from a dedicated minority to the general public and this new service takes things one step further with high quality video streaming. As a public service broadcaster they have a responsibility to clearly inform users of the potential impact to their broadband service and punitive charges they might incur through accessing high quantities of this content.

“A live streaming service of this kind will certainly test consumers’ broadband packages due to the high speed connection and substantial download limits that it will demand. It’s important that consumers know what their monthly download limit is so we would recommend using our free Broadband Download Monitor to track downloads and alert them as they reach their limit.”

Best broadband packages for speed – Be There and Virgin Media offer packages with fast headline download rates.

Best broadband packages for download limits – O2 and Be There both have generous fair usage policies compared with other ISPs. Also, Sky’s top package is currently the only service to offer truly unlimited downloads without any caveats.

Broadbandchoices.co.uk 5 top tips for downloading:

• Download at night – If you don’t have to watch the programmes live we would recommend using the iPlayer to download the content overnight when download usage is unmetered or usage caps are often less restrictive.

• Pick the right ISP – If you think you will be a regular user of video streaming applications it is worth comparing faster packages with larger download limits. Our guide looks at the most suitable packages on the market .

• Track your usage – Be aware of your monthly download limit. Install a download monitor (Broadband Download Monitor) and set it to alert you as you reach your limit, before you incur any penalties.

• Boost your speed – If you don’t want to switch providers, there are still a number of tricks you can try to boost your speed. Our guide to speeding up your broadband connection should help you get the most from your current package.

• Be aware of the cost – Technically, this new BBC streaming service is only available to licencse fee payers. As a licencse fee payer, it is important to minimise any additional costs (for example, fair usage penalties) otherwise consumers will effectively be “paying twice” for watching the programmes online.
