Excellent values coming about in Sky TV packages

June 28th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

With the World Cup finally underway most UK TV viewers are well ensconced into whichever method of watching affords them the best value and more importantly the best picture. For many this will be Freeview with an HD set top box. Until you watch World Cup Football in high definition you have never seen a match. The clarity is astounding. To that end, all Sky TV packages include a great deal for High Def TV.

Over 2.5 million customers in the United Kingdom are enjoying World Cup Matches in HD on Sky TV. All that this requires is a low cost Sky subscription and a Sky HD box. Unlike Freeview where you must purchase the HD set top box yourself for around 200 pounds, Sky TV packages include free set up and equipment. Sky seems to always have one type of incentive plan or another underway. Right now they are offering a free 50 pound Marks and Spence gift card for new sign ups.

After the World Cup is over and as we all hope England is the ultimate victor you will be able to use your Sky or Virgin HD box to enjoy thousands of hours of other fine programming. In fact Virgin Media is preparing to join Sky in offering true 3D television. Part of the fun of today’s digitally created movies is being able to rewatch them in the original theatre style 3D. Sky TV and Virgin Media allow you to do just that.

Michael Phillips, product director at Homephonechoices.co.uk comments on Ofcom’s announcement of cheaper charges for UK consumers to end phone contracts:

June 21st, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Michael Phillips, product director at Homephonechoices.co.uk commented:

“Ofcom’s move to reduce early exit fees will definitely make it worthwhile for many home phone customers to switch providers early if they are unhappy with the service they are currently receiving. Switching home phone provider is very easy and usually takes about 14 days. Millions of households in the UK have never switched provider, so we think its about time they did – the savings will soon mount up.”

Homephonechoices.co.uk’s top tips for switching home phone provider:

1. Check your phone line: “Cable phone customers, or those on an LLU network, can face added complications or costs when it comes to switching providers. They will need to have an active BT-compatible phone line installed or re-connected before they can take advantage of the full range of home phone providers on offer. Remember, other providers in addition to BT can arrange this for you.

2. Think ‘literally’: “Try to realistically consider your needs as a home phone customer. If you are working during the day then you’ll probably just need a standard evening and weekend call package, but if you are mostly at home during the day then a cheap anytime calls package will be more suitable for you.

3. Pick and mix: “Many home phone providers now offer ‘add-ons’ for people who want extra features such as cheap international calls or an additional phone line, allowing home phone customers to effectively ‘build’ their ideal home phone package.

4. Compare online: “The best deals are usually accessed online, so ensure you use a reliable price comparison website to check what packages are available in your postcode area.”

Van Breakers Yards Help Environment by Recycling Scrap Vehicles.

June 14th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

The world of recycling and our ongoing efforts to help the planet recover from the past decades of over use of resources is often concentrated on what waste we produce from the household environment. However, the legislation surrounding the control of end of life vehicles has produced very positive results. We can now consider our local van scrap yard and van breakers to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. The separation of the different materials in the vehicle recycling environment has been the key to the ongoing success.

The local van scrap yard is a business that, like any business, has to make money to survive. When we take our old vehicles to them and receive a small amount of cash for them it can often seem like the amount is almost too small to be bothered with. But when you consider the amazing variety of materials that they must have the facilities to dispose of, you can see that the amount you receive is fair allowing for legislation and profit margins.

The list of materials is quite comprehensive.

Obviously there is Metal, the average car is 76%, by weight and most of this is sheet steel. There are other metals such as aluminium and magnesium and in total about 98% of the metals in a vehicle are recycled.

Plastics are a big part of vehicles and the content of plastics has risen by 25% in the last 20 years. The lightweight nature of this material and its ease of moulding make it an inevitable part of today’s vehicle manufacture. As we all know from our domestic recycling, this material is hard to dispose of and recycle. The wide range of polymer types in the average vehicle means that recycling is difficult and more often than not this gets ground and sent to landfill.

Fluids that help in the operation of the vehicle are a major concern for the environmentalist. The recovery of these fluids is a vitally important part of vehicle dismantling as the inappropriate disposal of oils is a major concern with regard to the environment.

Catalytic convertors are a valuable and as yet under used recoverable product from vehicle dismantling. The unit contains steel and precious metals such as Platinum, rhodium and palladium. The use of platinum and rhodium in Western Europe is almost exclusively centred around the production of catalytic convertors – over 65% of platinum and 90% of rhodium – this makes the business of recovery and disposal a viable and ever growing business.

Batteries are a resource that has been recycled for many decades and as such the average vehicle dismantling yard is well versed in the collection and recovery of this valuable resource. Although it is estimated that 90% are currently recovered and recycled there are still the missing 10% that are thought to still be in the vehicle when it is crushed. Legislation is expected to reduce this occurrence to nearer zero.

There are of course many other materials that need to be dealt with by a vehicle dismantler, but these are the most obvious and constitute the largest portion of any dismantled vehicle.

The van scrap yard has much to contend with legislation being one major factor in everyday business. The best of them also want to go beyond the legislation and do the best that they can do for the planet and the environment. it is no wonder that they are places of mixed feelings for some people, just remember that some of them are run by the good guys.

About United Vans Ltd

United Vans of Bristol have been in the vehicle dismantling business for years. They have a very efficient van scrap yard just outside Bristol. As van breakers they dismantle all types of vans from Mercedes sprinter vans to Toyota Hiace and Hilux. They are always on the lookout for vehicles to dismantle and their sign ‘Mercedes vans wanted‘ is ever visible at their site.

Telecommunications value shifts to bundle pricing over phone line rental charges

June 9th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

Once again it seems that how you use telecommunications services in your home should determine which of the United Kingdom’s phone line providers is the best for you. Talk Talk has just announced that they will offer customers free broadband for a whopping 12 full months as part of their Talk Talk essentials package.

The package which includes a hefty 40 GB download allowance at 24 MB speed is available all for just the price of line rental of 11.49 pounds per month. Bear in mind that the minimum term for the contract is 18 months so the last 6 months of the deal will be priced at 6.99 pounds per. Still spreading that cost over 18 months brings the price to a little over 2 pounds each month for a very nice broadband deal. This would seem a great deal for those who are more involved with the internet than TV as the larger download allowance serves both entertainment venues.

TV viewers can use iplayer and catch up on all their favorite programmes. For those interested in cheap phone calls anytime, Talk Talk has a pro variation of the package whereby one receives unlimited broadband as well as unlimited anytime phone calls. For those not so emotionally vested in TV this is a superb money saving package. Projected savings for the average UK phone line rental customer are upwards of 84 pounds per year. Even the most diehard TV watcher will be tempted to scale down to this level and pay just 11.49 pounds monthly for home phone and broadband combined.

Breakdown cover for driving to Europe

June 9th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

In light of so many UK residents being stranded by the recent airline volcanic ash shutdown a huge number of UK travelers will be making their trip abroad by means of their cars. Over 15,000,000 people traveled throughout the UK and abroad during the May 29th to 31st holiday weekend.

This vast number reflects a substantial increase in holiday travel by car. The summer season will no doubt yield a continued trend in this direction. Even in the present case where airlines are loosening their policies as to flying through and around the volcanic ash clouds, many people are choosing to avoid the conflict altogether and map out a motoring vacation. However those using their vehicles for longer than usual traveling need to first do a breakdown cover comparison.

There is the likelihood that your current breakdown cover company does not even offer European breakdown cover single trip protection. An online search using the terms European breakdown cover comparison should yield exactly the information one needs. For example will the cover you purchase allow for onward travel in the event of a breakdown. No one wants to spend three days of their holiday waiting for a garage to make a repair. The object as always remains to reach the destination point and have a good time. Reaching a point that is only halfway there may put one celebrating their holiday in a less than glamorous location.

Why come back to BT after a new phone line connection price increase?

June 9th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

BT has once again raised their price for a new phone line connection. The new price is 127.99 pounds the old price was 124.99. Now honestly, is there any difference here? Three pounds will not be a deciding factor to anyone when choosing their phone line provider. The greater truth is that no one is going to pay an installation or connection fee that exceeds 30 pounds. All that this increase does is draw attention to BT in a negative manner.

The announcement makes it essential to compare phone line providers and each of their available deals. Don’t let the price of installation deter you if you truly want to come back to BT. BT offers great deals for unlimited calling, broadband and TV that can reduce the connection charge down to zero. If you are opting for a package that bundles services, no UK telecoms provider is going to charge you a connection fee. So your real decision-making process relies upon overall price and quality of service.

To be frank, one wonders the purpose of BT increasing this price? Perhaps one is to further influence potential customers to choose the bundling of services which allows them to receive free installation. And, if it were not for the competition in the form of Virgin Media and Talk Talk offering free installation as well the concept might work. But by now everyone in the UK knows that paying for a new phone line installation is unnecessary and probably just foolish.

Determining your roadside breakdown cover needs

June 7th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Press Releases

When do you most need breakdown cover? When you are seated curbside wondering what to do about your broken car. There are only two options available when preparing to take a motor trip. One is to completely check over your vehicle making 100% certain it is road ready and positively cannot fail during your excursion. The other is to purchase a quality breakdown cover plan. Fully 40% of all UK car owners do not have a roadside assistance plan in the form of breakdown cover. Amazingly that figure is even higher for women.

Cover is not too expensive and a simple breakdown cover comparison makes it easy for anyone to come to an understanding of prices and features. Begin by deciding whether or not you need home start and home assistance as part of your breakdown cover. If your automobile is prone to numerous small problems this is a feature you want to opt for.

If you have more than one vehicle such as a motorcycle for recreation you will need to include motorcycle breakdown cover either as a separate policy or by having your cover issued upon your person as opposed to your car. Very often we must include a European breakdown cover comparison as part of our research. The only thing worse than being stuck at home with a broken vehicle is being stuck far from home. Perhaps the best answer of all is to make sure that your car is completely roadworthy but purchase breakdown cover anyway for the inevitable unexpected roadside assistance need.
