How to compare broadband from PlusNet with other major providers

November 21st, 2009 by admin | Posted under Press Releases.

Recently United Kingdom broadband provider PlusNet announced that they were cutting in half their price for new line installation. This reduces the price required to just under £50.00 to connect to the UK’s cheapest standalone broadband packaging. A broadband comparison made with the help of consumer assistance website Broadbandchoices.co.uk shows availability of the PlusNet basic broadband connection package at a price of just £5.95 per month with no contract required.

But, as usual, that price does not include an almost 11 pounds per month line rental fee. When we further compare broadband deals at Broadband Choices, we can quickly see that while there may be a slight savings using PlusNet on a standalone basis as soon as we opt for any additional services such as home phone and television, value shifts quickly in the direction of more notable larger United Kingdom broadband providers. It should also be pointed out that broadband reviews of PlusNet made questionable the claimed overall average speeds.

In keeping with this all that glitters is not gold train of thought, one should not forget that Virgin Media has recently lowered their new line connection price as well. A major difference being that Virgin has lowered their price from an already reasonable onetime fee of 35 pounds to an unbeatable bargain price of zero. Virgin Media now charges nothing for a new line connection. And yes the PlusNet installation price is a relative bargain when compared to the standard £122.50 still charged by BT for connection, but all that these competitors can hope to accomplish is drive more customers into the fiber optic network of Virgin Media.
