A website that was setup to serve readers information and news about the London theatre scene reports it is gaining in popularity.
Whilst much of the UK economy is being hit hard by the credit crunch, some areas of the entertainments industry are still thriving.
When asked why the site, and industry sector is seemingly less damaged by the financial crisis than many other business areas, a spokesperson for the London Theatre Tickets site said:
We feel that the reason is perhaps one of escapism. The harder real life gets, the more people desire a (allbeit temporary) escape from it. The stage offers an excellent way of ‘switching off’ for a while, and being whisked away into a magic world. If you think about it, theatre has remained popular throughout some of the harshest times in British histroy).
Even though the glistening stage isn’t as hard hit as many businesses, that doesn’t mean that the financial crunch hasn’t had at least some effect…
For example, many people are turning to the Net to get cheaper tickets for shows, and this is perhaps helping to bolster the online sale of tickets even more than usual.
Whatever the reason, it looks plain to see that the world of the stage is here to stay!
