Dirty Dancing – One of the Most Popular Shows in London, Set to Take Chicago by Storm!

Dirty Dancing is one of the most popular Stage musicals London has ever seen, and now it is set to hit Chicago. Marketing for the show is already underway, with adverts exploding onto Kisoks and the side of busses all over Chicago.

The opening night for this major show is set for September 28th, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre.

Dirty Dancing The Musical

The musical version of Dirty Dancing does stick pretty closely to the film of 1987, in which a rather disgruntled teenager named ‘Baby’ travels to a Summer Holiday resort called the ‘Catskills Mountain Resort’ – Believing she is destined for a very dull summer with here often overbearing family.

However this all changes when she meets the resorts dance instructor ‘Johnny’. Sparks fly as the two hit it off both on the dance floor and off, and when Johnny’s dance partner is unable to perform in the end of season Show, Baby is trained up to be her stand-in.

The two become ever closer as the preparation for the grand finale gets going, causing increased friction between Baby and her family.

The stage version of Dirty Dancing contains more than 30 songs, and culminates in the all time favorite “The time of my life”

After Chicago the show is set to move to Broadway. Since its Premier in Australia, the show has travelled the globe, with sell outs at many locations. This version of this show is, however, set to contain various new elements that the Director (James Powell) states have never been tried before.

UK Theatre Goers Don’t Miss Out!

If you live in the UK, Chicago may seem a long way to go to see a musical, even one as popular as Dirty Dancing. There is no need to despair though! – A stage version of Dirty Dancing is also showing in London’s West end.

Dirty Dancing – One of the highest West End Ticket Sellers

Dirty Dancing has always been one of the most popular shows, and nothing has changed, despite being 20 years since it first appeared at the cinema.

The popularity of the film caused many spin offs… everything from American TV series to video games! – The musical remains one of the most popular of its kind to this day.

When Eleanor Bergstein wrote the play, she based the character of Baby on herself. The stage version of Dirty Dancing stays pretty true to the film version, but has the added energy that only a live show can bring,

The soundtrack to the Musical also helps to make the play a fast paced, exhilarating show, with a presence that is second to none.

As a statement to the popularity of this show, when it first opened in Sydney in 2004, the show sold over 200’000 tickets in six months!

The show can still be seen in London’s West End, so if you feel like seeing a real classic show, then check with uktickets.co.uk to get cheap dirty dancing tickets.

Dirty Dancing Still One of The Most Popular West End Shows

The credit crunch may be affecting many business and some parts of the entertainment, but with over thirteen million people attending the theatre in 2007, it is pretty safe to say that the popularity of the west end is far from under threat.

Perhaps part of the reason is that increased stress in people’s working lives encourages them to look for ways to get away from it all. A night at the theatre certainly fulfils that need for escapism.
But one thing is for certain, in these tighter times people will be looking for better deals for their theatre tickets, and that is where online theatre ticket agents come into their own.

Websites like www.uktickets.co.uk specialise in getting their visitors the best tickets at the best prices for all of the most popular shows. So this is a great place to go for cheap dirty dancing tickets

One example of such a show is Dirty Dancing, which has never lost its appeal with theatre goers, even though it’s two decades since it first appeared on the big screens of the cinema.
The movie ‘Dirty Dancing’ was in fact so successful; that it triggered a number of spin offs, including an American TV show, a Musical tour, and even a computer game!

The theatre show has been even more successful than the movie though, with one particular show in 2004 selling well over two hundred thousand tickets in only 6 months.

When Dirty Dancing opened at the Aldwych theate (Oct 2006), it brought in the highest pre-sales in the London theatrical history, in fact, some of the weekend performances were selling out up to 6 months in advance.

Unlike some theatre shows, Dirty Dancing is actually pretty faithful to the movie, but it does have some extra parts slotted in especially for the stage, which enhances the performance.
