The well known high street lingerie chain La Senza has just agreed a two year contract with telecommunications giant O2 in the UK to help with their phone line services. The new phone line system that O2 is putting in place will help to improve efficiency between all branches of the chain, it is hoped. The main aim is to improve efficiency by eliminating the requirement of having many different suppliers. It is thought at the moment that O2 has reduced overheads in this department significantly, at around twenty seven percent. La Senza had decided to streamline their services, through the consolidation of their supplier base, which was thought to be too large in the past.
Previously, O2 supplied all mobile phones to the company, but that will now change to include landline operations too, which will include all of the ISDN2 and ISDN30 systems throughout all of the 180 stores located within the UK, along with the three distribution centres and the main head office.
O2 has also agreed to supply a service which will assess the current efficiency of the existing lines and they will look to remove existent wastage. The deal that has been struck will see O2 charge more than double what their previous contract was worth, and it is thought that a similar deal has been struck in Ireland.
Although this news may seem irrelevant to us domestic consumers, there is a lesson here from the big boys and girls of the commercial world. Consolidation of many differing contracts into one freshly researched deal could save money. The perks from the big telecoms companies offered to us ‘little people’ include free phone line or free calls with bundled packages. This might not see savings in the millions for our domestic budgets but even the smallest guaranteed saving right now is a welcome boost; whether you are La Senza or J. Blogs.
