When Talk Talk took over Tiscali last year they announced that Tiscali customers would have to pay an extra 5 pounds per month beginning in January 2010 for the privilege of becoming Talk Talk customers. Upon receiving much negative commentary on this move, Talk Talk rescinded the decision and welcomed their new customers without additional charge. This is exactly the type of service that marks Talk Talk as an overwhelming favorite among United Kingdom landline providers. Homephonechoices.co.uk reports that Talk Talk has been selected as the UK’s best UK phone provider in their 2010 home phone service awards. Rival triple play seller SKY won the award among UK phone line providers for best overall home communications provider, based primarily on the customer satisfaction ratings of their bundles including TV channels. Of almost ten thousand surveyed participants 63% remarked that they are displeased with their current providers customer service and plan to switch companies at some point in the new year so as to take advantage of better offers for cheap phone calls.
Yet, among all this dissatisfaction, Talk Talk customers went out of their way to comment on how pleased they were with Talk Talk’s pricing and home phone service. This is somewhat surprising considering that Talk Talk is not the UK’s cheapest home phone service provider. That title belongs to Primus with their Primus Saver plan. The Primus Saver plan currently offers both the lowest monthly line rental and anytime calling charges.
