After reading Matt Cutts personal weblog, the head of the spam team at Google has indicated that Google’s “Caffeine” update should soon after the coming holiday period.
Caffeine is Google’s next generation architecture, which promises to improve Google’s indexing infrastructure. Google has stated that this is the first step in an ongoing process that will help them break free from traditional barriers index size, speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and several other dimensions that they are not talking about at this time.
For the average web surfer, the difference will be virtually unnoticed. On the surface Google will remain the same Google. What will change is the accuracy of search results. Spam should be reduced, and if you heard about the recent sandbox preview could actually see the results live.
The sandbox has been taken down and replaced with a thank you message. What this means to you is that the changes are coming soon. Since Matt has publicly made the statement that they will not role out these changes until after the holidays, many feel this was addressed to the SEO community.
You may be wondering what changes may be necessary to your sites, and what SEO best practices will need to be implemented to take advantage of this new Google update. Well since no one knows what that is at this current time, as it is too soon to see how the new system will perform.
We recommend that you continue using the regular SEO best practices that you have been using and you should come through this just fine. Keyword research, keywords in titles and in meta-tags should not change. Nor will the necessity to gather quality inbound links for your site. Keep working at these things and you should be fine.
When in doubt just remember to build quality websites that people will need, want and enjoy. After all people are on the net to have fun. Not to be take advantage of.
