Consider this, jQuery just beat out some serious competition. In the category for open source web applications the entrants, jQuery was competing with Firefox and WordPress.
The Net awards for 2009 included 17 different categories. Mobile apps, podcasts of the year, design agency of the year where a few of the other categories. Winning this type of award is a stellar accomplishment for the team at jQuery.
All nominees in the open source application of the year are recognized for their contributions within the open source movement. It is these contributions that make the open source movement when it is, and it also encourages others to contribute best of breed applications and tools.
If you’re not familiar with jQuery, you should be. It is probably the single largest user interface design component used on the web today.
jQuery Can be used to hide page elements or to communicate via back channel with an assortment of APIs. It is robust, powerful, extensible and you can also conserve server resources by serving your jScript libraries from Google’s own server farms.
Without this type of open source innovation, today’s web applications would not be nearly as robust, interactive and powerful as they have become. Our hats are off to the open source movement.
The Net awards, are published in printed by Future Publishing, one of Britain’s largest media conglomerates. These awards are published yearly with top awards for this year’s categories going to companies like Tweetdeck, twitter, Flickr, Google chrome, and Shazam.
You might be asking what is so special about jQuery. Well several things make jQuery a force to be reckoned with. It’s lightweight footprint, CSS3 compliance, and cross browser compatibility should be more than enough convincing in supporting evidence to prove jQuery’s usefulness.
jQuery is one of the ever growing and increasingly more popular popular libraries available to web designers and developers. It Has evolved considerably since its inception over three years ago.
